Dining in Hungary

The traditional Hungarian dishes are predominantly meat based arising from their hunting origins. Everyone has heard of Goulash, spelt gulyás on Hungarian menus, but they have many more stews and soups besides. Pork is a favourite used as large roasted shoulder joints "csülök", sausages and breaded steaks. Rolled, stuffed cabbage "Töltött káposzta"  is my personal favourite. All the above can be ordered at a local Csárda the hunters restaurants. If you are by one of the many lakes why not try the fish stew "Harcsapaprikás" or the famous langos and as a dessert, palacsinta another speciality you will love.
