Markets in Hungary

Every town in Hungary has its own market days where locals come to sell their goods, home made articles and their fresh, locally grown produce. The fruit and vegetable selections are the best you will taste anywhere in Europe. For example in Budapest there is The Great Market Hall or Central Market Hall, on Fővám Tér in the 9th district, it is the largest indoor market in Budapest. It was designed and built by Samu Pecz around 1896. The market offers a huge variety of stalls on three floors, it is a must see for every tourist!

During Winter the Christmas markets occur all over the country. These markets are open into the evening allowing hot wine, palinka and traditional cuisine to be sampled whilst shopping for handmade crafts.
