Discover the largest lake in Central Europe!

The lake has always been a popular holiday spot - it's surrounded by gorgeous scenery, its shores are dotted with pretty towns. The best way to discover it is to rent a bike, you can also go across the lake by ferry from Tihany if you are on the north shore or take the train, it is running all day regularly, and until late at night if you would like to check out the nightlife. All night clubs and dancing clubs are open until early morning.

Along the 77 km long lake there is plenty to see and do. The mountainous region of the northern shore is known both for its historic character and as a major wine region with Tihany, Balatonfüred, Badacsony and Keszthely being the major holiday resorts. While the flat southern shore known for its night life and good strands. With Siofok being the centre of the southern shore, you will be able to experience the best dancing clubs, restaurants and beaches. The southern part is also great for families with small children since here the water is very shallow. Beside Siofok, the main tourist destinations are Balatonföldvár and Balatonlelle. The weather is very hot all summer, so bring your bathing suit along and get ready for the big splash!!!
