Siklós

More information

Siklós is a pretty little town in the Southern Transdanubian region, near Villany vine region. It has a thermal bath with both outdoor and indoor pools as well as a beautiful castle.

Siklós castle is one of Hungary’s medieval fortresses that has survived intact. Turkish cannons left its walls unharmed, nor did Emperor Leopold I blew it up, contrary to the way he treated the other medieval outposts of Hungary. The castle was built in the 13th century and was first mentioned in a charter from 1294. The castle also houses a chapel which was built between the 14th and 15th centuries.

After adoring the castle the best thing you can do is to visit the bath and spa complex. The internal architecture of the spa is exceptionally imposing, the colourful bastions surrounding the pools symbolize the walls of the castle. Inside each bastion surprise experiences await bathers. In the three-storey complex measuring more than 5 000 square metres cold and hot water pools with unique adventure elements, child and adventure pools, a sauna world, sports grounds and catering units provide recreation.
